The construction site in the port area of Taranto of the new plant of Ferretti group: hulls for yachts will be produced and approximately 200 employees will be employed when fully operational.
The Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (Cipess) attributed public resources to the investment, thus closing the financial aspects. The preliminary step to the yes of the Cipess was the ok of the table of the institutional development contract of the Taranto area which, in the session of last 7 December, diverted the last missing public resources to the Ferretti project (14.2), defining temporarily for a total of 42.8 million the aquarium project in Taranto (in addition to Ferretti, the rest went to other measures).
The Ferretti group, world leader in the nautical sector, which has a portfolio of eight prestigious and exclusive brands, a turnover of over 800 million euros and approximately 1,600 employees, will invest in Taranto 62.6 million euros. They add to the role of the private sector 137.6 million of public intervention with a direct participation of the Puglia Region – in the public part – of 41.5 million euros.
The Ferretti investment in Taranto was presented more than a year ago at the Cis Taranto table. The Conte II government was in charge and the Cis Taranto coordinated for the executive the then undersecretary to the presidency of the Council, Mario Turco, who today, downstream of the yes of the Cipess, comments that Taranto “may have a future different from that marked exclusively by heavy industry. Investing in the economy linked to the sea – says Turco – means allowing the Ionian capital to re-emerge from its current condition ».
Although launched by the previous government, the Ferretti project has passed the decisive junctions this year (in mid-July with the availability of the Puglia Region to allocate resources and then in December with the table chaired by Carfagna) up to the final passage of the Cipess. “Thanks to what was resolved by Cipess, today Ferretti Group can start an investment path in Taranto to develop models, molds, an engineering division and a research and advanced technology center on materials such as carbon and fiberglass”. This was declared by the CEO of the Ferretti group, Alberto Galassi. “We strongly want to be in Puglia and contribute to the relaunch of a large industrial area through technologies and people capable of giving a positive change to the way of doing business of excellence – says Galassi, who highlights the role played by Minister Carfagna and the governor regional Michele Emiliano -. Puglia – adds Galassi – has industries, entrepreneurship, an industrious mentality and we can’t wait to do our part and be actors in a new course for Taranto and the entire region ».
