The certainty of the Meb base

Cupra: numbers and expectations
With 27,400 units sold in 2020, Cupra’s performance, which achieved double-digit growth of 11% over the previous year, was remarkable, and it was one of the few brands in Europe that grew during the crisis of the COVID-19. From the launch of the brand in 2018 to today, Cupra has seen over 70,000 units, exceeding all initial expectations. Cupra will play an important role in the‘increase in financial results of the company. The forecast is to reach the double the sales and over double the turnover, which in 2020 amounted to around 900 million euros. The mix will increase from 5 to 10% of the company’s total volume.
Electrification of the range and new markets
The key levers to achieve profitability in 2021 will be the increase of mix of rechargeable hybrid vehicles on tap, the Phevs (of which Formentor e-hybrid with 55 km of autonomy is already on the way), and the launch of Cupra Born 100% electric, which will make it possible to achieve the CO2 targets. In addition, attention will be paid to reducing general costs and managing revenues, focusing on the most important markets and channels. Finally, Cupra will have access to new markets and will also open its doors to the most electrified countries.
In 2022, the brand will come in Australia, a key step for further expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, as it is a young and high-income middle-class market.
