In the first half of 2021 the aggregate turnover of the 27 main world operators reversed the course (+ 4.8% compared to 1H 2020) reaching € 555.5 billion, thanks above all to the 8.5% growth in Asia & Pacific (€ 236.1 billion) fueled in particular by Chinese companies (+ 12.7%). The players in the Americas also performed well (up 4.5% to € 168 billion), with Europe still at the stake (-0.5%) with an aggregate turnover of € 151.4 billion.
Also in 1H 2021, investments fell by 2.5%, with the largest cuts for the Americas and Asia & Pacific (respectively -11.1% and -10.1%), but grew by 20.6% for the ‘Europe that must make up for the delays in the spread of 5G, especially in comparison with China and South Korea where the penetration of new technology (25.3% and 32.4% at the end of June ’21) is well above the world average ( 5.7%) and European (1.6%).
