The ministry for ecological transition communicated to Terna the positive outcome of the public consultation for the construction of the Tyrrhenian Link and at the same time started the conference of services for the urban planning approval of the work.
Terna’s goal, writes Equita Sim, is to obtain the definitive authorization for the autumn of 2022 and therefore to be able to start the executive project (7-8 months) and arrive at the entry into operation of the first Sicily-Campania cable in 2025. The second cable (Sicily-Sardinia) should come into operation in 2026 and in the following two years the laying of the other two cables on the same sections should be completed.
Equita believes that the formal launch of the authorization process for the construction of the Tyrrhenian Link is definitely positive, because it is a very important project for Terna, which ensures visibility for the growth of investments in the medium-long term. The total investment to complete the work by 2028 is estimated at 3.7 billion, of which 1.8 billion concentrated in the last part of the 2021-25 Business Plan.
