Chinese regulators have asked Tesla to recall more than 285,000 cars that the Elon Musk-founded giant has sold in China, due to concerns about the speed control system.
According to the authorities, the system could in fact activate suddenly in some models, causing an unintended acceleration of the car.
The recall affects 35,665 imported Model 3 vehicles and 249,855 Model 3 and Model Y cars that were produced at Tesla’s Shanghai plant and, in general, nearly every single car that was produced locally and that Tesla has sold in China since from January 2020.
Tesla apologized, issuing a statement in which it undertakes “to strictly comply with Chinese rules” and “to improve the safety” of its products.
Tesla stock rallied slightly in premarket on Wall Street, climbing 0.14% to $ 673.
