According to the notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website,TeslaSome Model 3 vehicles produced during 2019-2021 and some Model Y vehicles produced during 2020-2021 will be recalled to fasten or replace the fasteners connecting the front suspension and subframe.

Nearly 3,000 cars recalled in the U.S. market

It is reported that this recall involves part of Model 3 produced from 2019 to 2021 and part of Model Y produced from 2020 to 2021, a total of 2791 vehicles. The reason for the recall is that the fasteners connecting the front suspension and the sub-frame are not fixed in accordance with the correct specifications, and there may be a hidden danger of loosening, and in extreme cases, there may be a safety hazard.

Tesla said in a document submitted to NHTSA that the problem with the relevant vehicle is: “The front suspension transverse connection fasteners may loosen, thereby separating the transverse connecting rod from the subframe.”

Tesla also described the solution, saying that it will tighten or replace the transverse connection fasteners free of charge based on the actual situation. The notice to the car owner is expected to be sent on December 24, 2021. Owners can also call Tesla’s customer service number.

Although the notice will be sent by the end of this year, Tesla has already started to notify relevant car owners via e-mail.

The left or right side curtain airbags of related vehicles are improperly fixed, which may cause the airbags to distort. Therefore, these vehicles do not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicles Safety Standard No. 214 (“Side Impact Protection”) and 226 (“Reduced Ejection”) requirements.”

Yesterday there was news that Tesla had ordered 45GWh lithium iron phosphate batteries from CATL, mainly for Model 3 and Model Y models. In this regard, both Tesla and CATL told reporters that they would not comment.
