Tesla recalled approximately 475,000 vehicles in the United States, close to its total global deliveries last year-Tesla Tesla Electric Vehicles

Due to technical defects that may increase the risk of accidents, Tesla recalled about 475,000 vehicles in the United States, almost equivalent to its total global deliveries last year. Tesla plans to recall all Model 3 models produced between 2017 and 2020, with a total of 356,309 vehicles. The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the wiring harness of the rear-view camera may be damaged by opening and closing the trunk, hindering image display.

According to another statement issued on the official website of NHTSA on Thursday, Tesla will also recall as many as 119,009 Model S cars assembled since 2014 because of problems with the front rails that may cause the hood to accidentally open. The company said it will solve these two problems for free.

NHTSA said that Tesla found that 2,305 warranties may be related to any of the above two defects, but the company is not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths related to these two technical defects.

Tesla’s stock price fell 3% at one time, and as of 10:40 New York time, the decline narrowed to 0.6% to $1,079.70. The stock is up about 50% so far this year.

Although the scope of Tesla’s recall is large, this kind of thing is becoming more and more common in the automotive industry. Tesla’s recall seems to have nothing to do with the regulatory review of the company’s technical issues.
