Thanks to the funds, the managers closed February with a profit of 2.2 billion

by admin

The asset management industry slowed its pace in February, but still closed the month with its accounts in surplus. A total of € 2.2 billion entered the coffers of the managers, 10 less than in January, but this time there were no significant intra-group transactions by the Generali group (market leader) which, like the previous month, resulted in the trend of the entire sector significantly. From the beginning of the year, deposits thus stood at 14.6 billion. Open-ended funds held the reins of the system in February, achieving a positive balance of around 2 billion, while portfolio management went into negative territory (-89 million), due to institutional mandates, which went from 7 billion in January to -572 million today. The overall assets of the sector also fell slightly, from 2,423 to 2,416 billion. Of these, 50.1% is in the hands of collective management which thus exceeded those of the portfolio, which fell to 49.9 per cent.

Open-end funds

The products that received the greatest consensus were equities, which doubled the January figure in February, cashing in over 3.6 billion and bringing the balance from the beginning of the year to 5.5 billion. Positive month also for balanced funds (1.2 billion), while bonds (-237 million), monetary (-1.5 billion), returned to negative territory, and flexible (-1.3 billion) ) which confirmed the trend that has characterized the trend for months now. Overall, it was once again foreign-law products that led the fund sector (2.3 billion) and stemmed outflows from Italian funds (-322 million).

The societies

Among the protagonists of the sector, the good performance of Amundi and Jp Morgan Asset Management should be noted, which with a respective balance of 803 and 835 million recorded the best results in the sector. The accounts of Lyxor (448 million), Schroders (578 million) and the Intesa Sanpaolo group (393 million) are also active. Thumbs up, on the other hand, for Generali (-2.6 billion), Anima (-221 million) and Franklin Templeton (-236 million).
