Design, beauty and innovation. Under the banner of smart cities, the smart cities that will dominate the future. This is why Italy presented itself at the Dubai Expo as a protagonist, with a common thread that links the past to the future. As in the case of Olivetti, which from Indro Montanelli’s legendary Letter 32 has been transformed into a pivot of innovation with a focus on the digital factory and IoT solutions of the Tim group.

Starting with the Smart City Control Room solution that allows integrated access to the various services for the city, created on the Tim mobile network, including new generation ones, for the management of urban mobility, parking, lighting and waste collection. . On the other hand, according to the United Nations, within the next 10 years, 70% of the world‘s population will live in cities. And in a world that is advancing at alternating speed between more modern and developing countries, the theme of sustainable mobility and smart cities, after having held the bench at Cop26 in Glasgow, is destined to be central also in Dubai.

If only because the Expo 2020 Dubai site is destined to become a smart city: District 2020, which will open its doors in 2022. And the entire Middle East is determined to engage modernity and digital transformation by opening up to the protagonists of the sector. An opportunity that the big names in the sector, Tim Group in the lead, do not want to miss. And it is in this scenario that Olivetti presented its smart city model, underlining, in the words of the CEO Quang Ngo Dinh, that “the era of hyperconnectivity in private life, industry, commerce and public administration it has already begun. The pandemic has accelerated a process already underway, refining tools that were in part already available but against which cultural barriers or mistrust still existed. We are in the era of a digital revolution, we are at the beginning but we have already come a long way “.

In the Control Room model created by the Tim Group, the data of the Smart City are processed directly by Olivetti with the aim of making them immediately available for making decisions in real time. To date, the main initiative launched concerns Venice, where a real control room has been created at the service of the city.

Ā«Smart Cities are ecosystems that allow public administrations to operate at their best and individuals to develop their business. The impulse of the PNRR and the timeliness of regulatory updates, for example on the subject of privacy, are crucial factors in a process that allows us to create value for the entire society ā€added Ngo Dinh. And also recalling the evolution in the company’s business: “We put together hardware, such as sensors or network devices, connectivity and artificial intelligence services, to offer end-to-end solutions, that is to say complete”, continued Ngo Dinh , citing the estimates of the Tim Study Center which see, by 2025, benefits in particular for the automotive sectors, with 3.2 billion euros per year, manufacturing (2.5 billion), Energy and Utility (2 billion), eHealth (0.9 billion) and Logistics (0.5 billion).

As part of the events organized during the Exposition, it will also be possible to learn about the digital solutions for citizens, companies and public administrations offered by the Tim Group through Noovle for Cloud, Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence, Telsy for Cyber ā€‹ā€‹security and Sparkle for global connectivity , among other things, the first operator in the world to have enabled 5G roaming between Europe and the Middle East in August 2019.
