The first electric mini safety car of the FIA Formula E arrives

by admin

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Mini Electric Pacesetter inspired by the Mini John Cooper Works is the new safety car for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship series of races. The exteriors were built specifically for the track and represent the most dynamic interpretation of a fully electric Mini. At the front of the car, classic brand traits such as circular headlights and hexagonal radiator grille create the familiar and easily recognizable face of Mini. At the same time, characteristic John Cooper Works elements, such as wheel arches adapted to the car’s track and deep front apron with additional front splitters on the left and right, enhance the sporty appearance of the front end. It shows an extremely dynamic figure also from the side. The interplay of geometrically accentuated gaiters (with carefully placed aerodynamic edges) and sporty side sills gives the car an impression of movement even before putting it into action. The lines and surfaces with yellow accents on the aerodynamic elements (e.g. the gaiters, the flaps and the rear wing) are a reference to the aerodynamic flow optimization that takes place in these areas and add a visual touch to the air deflectors and aerodynamic edges. The lightweight 18-inch forged wheels in two-tone black-neon / orange design bring significant visual depth and added complexity to the four-spoke elements of the Mini John Cooper Works GP. The prominent roof-mounted rear wing with airflow and yellow accents also complements the headlight assembly and was 3D printed at the Oxford plant. The interior is reduced to the essential; only the front seats remain. The driver’s area consists of a certified six-point seat belt approved for both racing and road use, a minimalist design carbon fiber shock absorber steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. Strict adherence to lightweight design principles gives the safety car a curb weight of approximately 1,230 kg, approximately 130 kg lighter than the standard Mini Cooper SE. The propulsion system produces 135 kW and 280 Nm which allows the Mini Electric Pacesetter to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 6.7 seconds and from 0-60 km / h in 3.6 seconds. The propulsion system is combined with the racing coilover suspension (three-way adjustable in rebound, compression, height and camber) to offer the maximum go-kart feeling. Racing suspension control arm mounts, a 10mm increase in track width, plus four-piston brakes and Mini John Cooper Works GP wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires (245/40 R18) complete the package. The car will go into action for the first time in Rome on 10 April at the second event (race 3) of the 2021 Formula E season, with Bruno Correia at the wheel. (ITALPRESS). ads / com 01-Apr-21 16:46
