ROMA – It is more and more likely that there will be no new – even partial – freeze on redundancies in industry and construction. The parties of the majority are divided; the trade unions are asking for a new general extension until October which the government, however, has already said it does not want to grant (yesterday, the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando, reiterated this); Confindustria defends the latest solution adopted with the Sostegni bis decree (end of the block for manufacturing and construction from 1 July, extension instead for small businesses until October), and without a solid agreement shared by all parties involved in Palazzo Chigi it will do nothing, no “bridging decree”.
