The Pisan Industrial Union celebrates 100 years of activity with a gala at the Verdi Theater in Pisa, wanted by the current president, Patrizia Alma Pacini. It was precisely on 7 June 1922 when the association of Pisan industrialists was born, whose history is now reconstructed in the volume “The industry of all” created by a research group coordinated by Silvio Bianchi Martini of the Business Administration Department of the University of Pisa and by Andrea Piccaluga of the Institute of Management of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.

The first 100 years

“Our association was founded on 7 June 1922 – recalled President Pacini – on the basis of distinct sections by sectors: metallurgy, mechanics, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, wood, glass, which still represent us in Italy and throughout the world. . I like to underline that our province was placed among the most industrialized in the nation and there was therefore a need for aggregations since there are also the supply chains of large companies: thus we arrive at the birth of the Union ». The association now has more than 500 member companies for a total of 17 thousand employees. “This geographical area has always been a virtuous example of how the alliance between companies, universities and research centers has helped to grow and strengthen both ‘industry that the academic world – said the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi in a video message – continuing to be a source of innovation and creativity. On the other hand, Pisa itself was the birthplace of extraordinary figures from the world of science, academia and research such as Galileo Galilei ». The president of Confindustria Toscana, Maurizio Bigazzi, underlined in a message that “for entrepreneurs there are no goals but ambitious objectives: this is why this centenary is an opportunity to look to the future with that innovative and inclusive spirit and the passion that has characterized the Pisan Union in this first century of its life “. The celebration of 100 years of the Industrial Union was also the occasion for the delivery of the Sustainability Award (first edition), reserved for small and medium-sized associated companies that have invested in sustainability and safety. Masoni Industria Conciaria from Santa Croce sull’Arno (Pisa), Esanastri from Calcinaia and Zerynth from Pisa won. “Celebrating the Pisan industry and its hundred years of age means paying homage to a territory that, also thanks to industry, has developed , has grown, has been able to be attractive and has given new job opportunities, growth and future opportunities to thousands of people ”, concluded the president.
