The receipt lottery is back, prizes worth one million euros. FdI’s motion to cancel the cashback was rejected

by admin

The day after the rejection of the motion of the Brothers of Italy who wanted to allocate the 5 billion cashback to the refreshments, the receipt lottery is back. Up for grabs are 10 prizes of 100 thousand euros for consumers and another 10 prizes of 20 thousand euros for the merchants who have issued the receipt. After a slow start, there are over 685 million in the race, 33% more than last month: receipts issued in March, in fact, were over 22 million (every euro spent is worth a ticket, ed). Of course, getting your hands on the super prize to win is far from obvious because the chances of having the winning coupon in hand have risen from 1 in 53 million to about one in 68 million, but it is always easier than hitting six at the Superenalotto for which there is one probability in 622,614,630 of possible combinations.

In addition to the monthly draws, from June there will also be weekly draws, which will give away 15 prizes of 25 thousand euros each. The first weekly draw is scheduled for Thursday 10 June, while the first annual draw is scheduled for early 2022 and will reward one of the tickets issued until 31 December with € 5 million. Also in this case, the exhibitors will also celebrate: for each monthly draw there will be 10 prizes of 20 thousand euros each, for the weekly ones the winnings will be 15 of 5 thousand euros each, while the annual one will assign a prize of 1 million euros. To participate, at the time of purchase, it will be necessary to show the lottery code to be downloaded on the lottery web portal.

Despite the increase in expenses and participants, Fratelli d’Italia asked for the abolition of the measure: “In the midst of the pandemic, Italy will throw 5 billion euros for the fight against cash and the receipt lottery instead of allocating those resources to save companies in crisis and jobs at risk “. For the CGIL, however, “it is positive that the continuation of the program has not been questioned because it is an important complement in the fight against tax evasion and because it pushes towards a virtuous change in consumer behavior but, even more so, for ‘ push towards the provision of innovative and connected payment and transaction registration systems for retail businesses’ “.

And for the Deputy Minister for the Economy, Laura Castelli, “the measure finances itself because there are 23 billion estimated in terms of higher consumption in the two-year period, based on the numbers produced since cashback has existed. There are 9 billion in higher revenues from today to 2025. Furthermore, the data collected show that Italian habits are radically changing, digital payments of small amounts (i.e. under 10 euros) have increased by 34% and those of 56% carried out at local shops “.
