A memorandum of understanding with Nidil Cgil to guarantee the protection of workers’ rights and the launch of a crowdfunding campaign to support the start-up of activities, from the purchase of electric bikes to the development of a network presence: Robin’s project takes off Food, the Florentine delivery cooperative entirely owned and self-managed by riders. The founding members are seven, all with a background of work for the delivery multinationals. Now, thanks to the announcement of Legacoop Toscana and Fondazione Cri Firenze, they have decided to organize themselves as a cooperative to build an alternative model, without any more exploitation.
“Our cooperative aims to be an ethical and sustainable alternative to the large companies that dominate the food delivery market – says Simone di Giulio, president of Robin Food – mainly we will focus on the food delivery sector, but we will also manage the logistics of others assets by working with local companies “. The legal form of the cooperative guarantees the democratic participation of all workers and an equitable distribution of profits among them.

Robin Food will guarantee the protection of the fundamental rights of workers and the application of national sector contracts. A point, this, by no means taken for granted in Italy, despite the recent sentence of the Supreme Court: “The birth of Robin Food and the signing of the protocol that establishes full safeguards for the delivery men – underlines Ilaria Lani, general secretary Nidil CGIL Firenze – proposes a new sustainable alternative in the home delivery sector and it is significant that the protagonists of this experience are precisely the riders, who in recent months have fought against the exploitation imposed by multinationals Ā».
Robin Food wants to help generate value for the territory, in the form of taxes that will remain within the community. For deliveries, only non-polluting means of transport will be used, such as bicycles and electric vehicles, and ecological materials will be privileged in packaging.
