It is reported that the European Court of Justice issued a ruling last summer restricting the way relevant companies can send personal information related to European users to the United States. Part of the reason is that the court found that it was difficult for European clients to find effective legal measures in the United States.

Then, the Irish privacy regulator took advantage of the preliminary draft law on user data protection to take action against the social networking giant Facebook, which has the European Union headquarters in Dublin, and stopped the company’s return of data to the United States in the fall.

According to EU law, local companies are not allowed to send the personal information of European customers overseas unless the target data receiving region is deemed to provide the same level of legal protection as the EU.

Regrettably, the United States has never taken effective actions to reduce the flow of non-compliant user data-even as early as 20 years ago, the European Union had reached a special agreement with the United States to allow companies to be selective To join the EU privacy guidelines enforced by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and then continue to transfer relevant data to the United States.

The latest news is that, according to people familiar with the matter, a US delegation will meet with EU officials to reach an agreement on the conditions that allow companies to continue to store and access the personal data of European customers in the US.

However, as of press time, neither the FTC nor the European Union immediately responded to foreign media’s request for comment.
