The average electricity price in the first half of 2023 was 42.49 cents per kilowatt hour. In comparison to all 27 EU countries, however, it is only 31.88 cents per kilowatt hour. The contrast is only slightly smaller with an annual electricity consumption of between 2,500 and 5,000 kilowatt hours, which applies to an average family. The German electricity prices for this consumption were 41.25 cents per kilowatt hour – fifth place in the EU. The EU average, however, was 28.9 cents.
