The National People’s Congress and the National People’s Congress in 2022 will be held soon. Li Dongsheng, a representative of the National People’s Congress and the founder of TCL, suggested that we should increase the crackdown on online violence and create a clean and upright online environment.

Li Dongsheng said that in recent years, cyber violence incidents in my country have been on the rise and attracted much attention. According to the “2019 Social Blue Book”, 1 in 3 adults has experienced cyber violence, and 1 in every 2 minors has experienced cyber violence. At present, in terms of curbing and combating cyber violence in my country, there are still many problems, such as the lack of applicability and cohesion of laws and regulations, the high cost of rights protection for victims, and the lack of the main responsibility of the platform.

In this regard, Li Dongsheng put forward three suggestions: First, the relevant judicial interpretations of cyber violence should be improved, and special legislation should be made to combat cyber violence. Second, intensify the punishment of those responsible for cyber violence, and incorporate serious circumstances into the public prosecution. Third, clarify the responsibilities and authorities of each regulatory department, implement the main responsibility of online platforms, and effectively improve the efficiency of cyber violence response.
