U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com UK 100 was up 0.48%.
The best performers of the Investing.com UK 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 3.72% or 10.50 points to trade at 292.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Avast PLC (LON:AVST) was up 3.17% or 15.60 points to end at 507.40 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 2.98% or 38.50 points to end at 1,329.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet (LON:EZJ), which lost 6.31% or 28.00 points to trade at 415.70. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) fell 4.03% or 6.65 points to end at 158.45; Carnival Corporation (LON:CCL) fell 3.08% or 22.40 points to 705.20 at the close.
On the London Stock Exchange, 956 stocks fell, outnumbering gainers by 895, while 420 stocks were little changed.
Gold futures August options contract prices fell 0.10% or 1.75 points to hit $1,838.85. As for the rest of the futures, the price of the WTI crude oil futures contract for delivery in August rose 1.63% (1.76 points) to be quoted at $109.75, while the August Brent crude oil futures contract in London rose 0.81% (0.93) to trade at $115.06.
GBP/USD remained unchanged by 0.22% at 1.23, while EUR/GBP was basically flat by 0.08% at 0.86.
U.S. dollar index futures were down 0.10% at 104.16.
