Ania, the National Association of Insurance Companies, announces that, on its own initiative, the insurance market will bear the premiums relating to border policies for Ukrainian refugees arriving by car in Italy.
The dramatic situation of these days is, in fact, leading to the entry into Italy of vehicles from warring territories, without a Green Card or other valid third party liability insurance. Thus, the UCI, the Italian Central Office, in full harmony with ANIA, has issued free border policies lasting 30 days for refugees who request them. Concrete help to refugees fleeing the war which testifies to the closeness of the insurance sector towards a people who are suffering and are forced to flee the country.
How to do
Border policies allow you to travel for a certain period of time on our territory with a vehicle registered in a non-EU country. Free coverage for cars with Ukrainian registration plates will be issued at the request of the interested party, who must declare, through a bilingual self-certification, that he is authorized to use the vehicle if it is registered in the name of a different person or a legal entity. The issue will take place exclusively remotely with the certificate sent by email.
To obtain the border policy, the request must be sent to [email protected] attaching the following documents: front-back copy of the vehicle registration document; copy of the third page of the passport of the vehicle keeper; self-certification completed and signed.
It is then sufficient to provide an e-mail address where to send the scan of the policy, the original of which will be retained by the UCI until any request for withdrawal by the holder.
