Urgent Alert: Ministry of Health Warns Against Consuming QuaKer Oats Products Contaminated with Salmonella

The Ministry of Health in Honduras has issued an urgent alert advising citizens to avoid consuming Quaker Oats brand products, as they have been found to be contaminated with salmonella. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States and the Health Regulatory Agency of Honduras (ARSA), there is a risk of an epidemiological outbreak of diarrhea if the contaminated products are consumed. It is important that citizens refrain from consuming any products from the brand until further notice from the authorities and dispose of any existing products.

In addition to avoiding Quaker Oats products, the Ministry of Health is also advising individuals to avoid consuming raw or undercooked foods, or contaminated well water without boiling at high temperatures. It is also recommended to practice constant hand washing before eating and after using the restroom to prevent the spread of salmonella.

Salmonella is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract, typically transmitted through contaminated water and food. Symptoms may include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. While most people recover without antibiotic treatment, severe cases may require hospitalization or antibiotics.

Furthermore, the Quaker company has revealed a list of eight products under alert in Honduras, out of the 70 products withdrawn from the market in the United States. It is important to avoid consuming these products until further notice. The Ministry of Health is urging the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines to prevent the spread of salmonella in the country.
