[New Tang Dynasty Beijing October 24, 2021]Due to the interruption of the commodity supply chain, the price of gasoline and other necessities in the United States has risen, affecting all aspects of people’s lives. Some small business owners recommend that customers buy Christmas gifts early this year to avoid losing their favorite products.

Many people may think that Halloween is not here yet, so don’t worry about buying Christmas gifts, but this year is different. The owner of this toy shop advises customers to buy early, because many toys here may be out of stock.

Toy store owner Christina Clark: “It’s best to buy now, because once it’s sold out, it’s probably out of stock.”

Christina’s toy store is a family business and is also affected by a shortage of goods. The interruption of the American commodity supply chain started six months ago; empty containers filled up California ports, so new containers could not be unloaded, and coupled with a shortage of truck drivers, the situation would only get worse.

Christina Clark: “The order we placed in February has only been received now. You simply don’t know which goods will arrive and which will not.”

Now, because the port has a large backlog of containers, cargo and transportation costs are increased. According to Christina, freight has increased by 500%.

All these problems will eventually push up commodity prices.

New York City resident Gina: “Because I am a college student, I will buy less or choose a different gift because the price is rising.”

So, is there any sign of an end to the shortage of goods and high prices?

Christina Clark: “We don’t know, there will not be a quick solution.”

According to experts, the situation may get worse, because as Christmas approaches, people will shop more. So if you want a gift, you still have to buy it as soon as possible.
