US labor market: jobless claims up to 220,000, 4-week moving average to low since March 2020

In the week ending November 27, the number of American workers applying for the first time to receive unemployment benefits rose by 28,000 to 220,000, better than the 240,000 expected by analysts interviewed by the Dow news agency. Jones. The previous week’s figure was revised down from the 199,000 units initially disclosed to 194,000.

The four-week moving average stood at
238,750, at the minimum since the week that ended on March 14, 2020.

The number of American workers who continue to benefit overall from unemployment benefits stands at 1,956,000, better than the estimated 2 million, and at its lowest since March 14, 2020.
