News from the real estate market made in the USA. The national home price index, the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller National Home Price Index, jumped 14.6% year-on-year in April, from + 13.3% in March.
The US Case-Shiller Index which tracks the trend in house prices in the 20 major metropolitan areas of the United States also rose 14.9% year-on-year, compared to the previous rise of 14.5%. On a monthly basis, prices rose by 2.1%, compared to + 2.2% and 1.6% taking into account the adjustments made on a seasonal basis.
“The April performance was truly extraordinary,” commented Craig Lazzara, managing director and global head of index investment strategy at S&P DJI. “The 14.6% gain reported by the National Composite Index is literally the highest in more than 30 years of data released by the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller,” he added.
