In April, the US trade deficit fell 19% to $ 87.1 billion, away from previously tested record values. The figure was better than expected, as analysts had forecast a deficit of $ 89.5 billion.
The previous figure was revised from the deficit of 109.8 billion posted last month to a deficit of $ 107.7 billion.
In April, US exports rose 3.5% to $ 252.62 billion, up from $ 244.11 billion last month, while imports fell 3.4% to $ 339.7 billion.
The deficit towards China fell to $ 30.57 billion, from $ 34 billion in March.
