In line with what has been decided by other European countries, starting with Germany and France, Italy also interrupts the administration of the Astrazeneca vaccine. The Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) has announced that it has decided to extend the ban on the use of the AstraZeneca Covid19 vaccine throughout the country as a precaution, pending the pronouncements of the EMA. Aifa, in coordination with EMA and the other European countries, will jointly evaluate all the events that have been reported following vaccination and will promptly disclose any further information that may become available, including the additional methods of completing the vaccination cycle for those who have already received the first dose.
In France, the announcement of the stop to the Astrazeneca vaccine was made directly by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, who indicated how the stop will continue until tomorrow, pending the opinion of the EMA.
