Valle d’Aosta: 80 million in the field to support businesses and families

by admin

The Valle d’Aosta Region is implementing an aid package worth around 80 million euros to support the economy in favor of businesses, workers and families affected by the Covid-19 emergency. An allocation contained in the first 2021 budget adjustment bill approved unanimously by the Regional Council and which provides for an increase of 129 million from the 2020 administration surplus.

The “refreshments” in the Aosta Valley are numerous and range from the bonus for VAT numbers to contributions, from investments to indemnities for workers who have suffered loss of income due to the emergency. 27.6 million euros are allocated to the extraordinary financing of regional health expenditure to cope with the epidemiological emergency and an additional allocation of 3 million euros is foreseen for the enhancement of services in the field of primary and secondary education.

The economic data show how the unemployment rate in the Valley rose in one year from 5.4 to 6.7%. The average of the employed fell a year ago to 52,690 units (lower than the 2008 crisis), and then rose slightly.

The impact of the pandemic on the economy also emerges from the data on regional exports. Between October and December 2020 they settled at 149 million euros, up from 115 in April-June but far from the pre-covid period: they were almost 200 million between April and June 2019.

With the measures contained in the budget adjustment «we have done everything possible to respect the deadlines that we had always declared. We have come to the approval of a law that injects into a social and economic fabric in difficulty, such as that of the Aosta Valley, at least 129 million euros, of which 80 are expressly dedicated to support measures: it is not a foregone conclusion and not to be underestimated “says Carlo Marzi, councilor for Finance, Innovation, Public Works and the Territory, who also underlines how “the bill received unanimity from the regional council: a strong political message that we send to the Aosta Valley”.
