Half of the sales will have to be electric by 2030. This is the goal of Volkswagen which announced that by 2040, almost 100% of its new vehicles in the main markets should be zero-emission vehicles.
These goals are part of Volkswagen’s broader goal of being completely carbon neutral by 2050. Group number one, Herbert Diess, unveiled the new strategy for 2030, a plan he dubbed New Car. The Wolfsburg carmaker has allocated 73 billion euros (86.4 billion dollars) for the development of future technologies between 2021 and 2025, which makes up 50% of the company’s total investments.
