The United States and the European Union have announced an agreement to help Europe break free from Russian fuel imports. US President Joe Biden will travel to Poland today after calling for Russia’s removal from the G-20 group of major economies, and Europe has rejected Putin’s request to pay in rubles for natural gas imports.
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the West of waging a “hybrid war, an all-out war” through sanctions against his country. European leaders want to “destroy, strangle the Russian economy and Russia as a whole,” Lavrov said at a meeting of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in Moscow on Friday.
