The trend of injuries according to Inail data

The latest Inail data, relating to the first half of 2021, showed that compared to 2020 the number of accidents at work reported increased by 6.7% in the Industry and services management, where cases went from 209,118 in 2020 to 223,162 in 2021. An increase of 7.3% also in Agriculture where it went from 12,068 to 12,950 and of 29.4% in the State Account, with the passage from 23,710 to 30,692. Generalized increases are observed in almost all production sectors except, in particular, in that of “Health and social assistance”, which in the first six months of this year shows a decrease of 35.8% (synthesis of + 163% of the first two months and -68% in the period March-June) of accidents occurring at work compared to the same period of 2020, while still distinguishing itself for the number of events, and in the accommodation and catering sector (-10.9% ).

Fatal cases down 5.6%

The reports of accidents at work with a fatal outcome submitted to Inail by the month of June were 538. We are therefore talking about 32 less than the 570 registered in the first six months of 2020 (-5.6%). The comparison between 2020 and 2021, as mentioned, however, requires caution, as the data of the deadly reports of the monthly open data, more than those of the reports as a whole, are provisional and strongly influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the the result of not counting a significant number of “late” fatal reports of contagion, in particular relating to the month of March 2020, explains Inail.
At the national level, the data collected as at 30 June of each year show an increase in only ongoing cases for the first half of this year, while those occurring during work were 41 fewer. The increase concerned only the insurance management of Agriculture and the State Account, while Industry and services marks a -11.5%.
