The first batch of units of the Baihetan Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River was safely put into operation on the 28th. In his congratulatory letter, Xi Jinping pointed out that Baihetan Hydropower Station is a major national project implementing the “West-East Power Transmission”, and is the largest hydropower project under construction in the world today with the most technical difficulty. The world‘s largest single-machine capacity of one million kilowatts of hydroelectric generating units has achieved a major breakthrough in my country’s high-end equipment manufacturing. All the builders and all parties carried forward the spirit of excellence, bravely climbing the peak, and selfless dedication, united and cooperated, overcame difficulties, and made contributions to the construction of major national projects. This fully demonstrates that socialism was built and the new era was built through struggle.

The commissioning ceremony of the first batch of units of the Jinsha River Baihetan Hydropower Station was held on the 28th in the form of video connection. The main venue was set up in Beijing and the branch venue was set up at the construction site of the Baihetan Hydropower Station.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County in Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. It is developed and constructed by China Three Gorges Corporation with a total investment of 220 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts. A total of 16 global stand-alone units independently developed by my country have been installed. Hydrogenerator set with the maximum capacity of one million kilowatts. The main project of the power station was fully started in July 2017. The first two units have been put into operation for power generation, and all units will be put into operation for power generation in July 2022. After the power station is completed and put into operation, it will become the second largest hydropower station in the world after the Three Gorges Project.
