After 7 years of intensive work, the illustration exhibition has grown in reputation and influence, and its international elements have become more prominent. It has attracted more and more outstanding picture book artists and illustrators at home and abroad to contribute actively. The professional group received nearly 600 works from more than 160 illustrators from more than 30 countries including China, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Romania, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, and the Philippines. The number of participants, countries and works All set new highs over the years. The public group continues to advocate reading classics. Young readers drew inspiration from the 10 award-winning works of the Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Award last year. Among the more than 2500 submissions, many young artists have been involved in image narration, painting skills, and imagination. Aspect stands out.

At the opening ceremony of the day, the illustration exhibition judges Xiong Liang, Leonard S. Marcus, and Natalie Bo introduced the selection of works, and Yu Lan, the president of China Welfare Association Publishing House, announced the winners. The annual award winner Sonia Danowski (Germany) and the second prize An Jingmei (South Korea), the second prize Yue Shuai (China), and the third prize Mariana Alcantara Pedraza ( Mexico) 4 winners gave speeches in video.

The series of works that won the annual award of this year’s illustration exhibition “Mysterious World Journey” was created by German illustrator Sonja Danowski (Sonja Danowski). The work depicts a mysterious world, where there are strange plants, rugged stone houses and a group of magical creatures. Although these creatures are of different sizes and abilities, they know how to help each other and create a wonderful and interesting livable home together. The author Sonia has created illustrations for books by famous Chinese children’s literature writers such as Cao Wenxuan and Fang Suzhen.

The second prize winner was Yue Shuai from Nanning, Guangxi. His series “His Night Journey with Him” ​​drew inspiration from traditional Chinese culture and used illustrations to interpret the story of the traditional Peking opera bunting martial arts drama “Sanchakou”. The night in the work is not just black. As the protagonist fights more intensely and the misunderstanding finally resolves, the background color of the night turns into warm red and jumping pink, making the narrative of the work more three-dimensional and rich.

According to the organizing committee, this exhibition invited American children’s book historian Leonard S.
