2021, the best-selling cars in the world

by admin

The Motor1 Numbers staff has put together the data on the best-selling cars in the world in 2021 with its podium. What is the analysis? Well: North Americans reward SUVs and pickups, Europeans prefer sedans and compact SUVs. In South America they love medium sized pickups. But here are the details.

USA

Ford’s F Series continues to dominate the light vehicle market in the United States with 726,000 units (including F-150, F-250, F-350 and F-450). Nearly 5 out of 100 “light” vehicles sold were a Ford F Series. A segurie Dodge’s Ram series and Chevrolet’s Silverado series.

SOUTH AMERICA

Brazil, the largest automotive market in Latin America, saw Fiat Strada as the leader with 109,107 units (5.5% of the total market). Following two city cars: Hyundai HB20S and Fiat Argo. The leader in Argentina is Fiat Cronos, the sedan version of the Fiat Strada. Hilux Toyota second, followed by another pickup: Volkswagen Amarok

GERMANY

Volkswagen Golf remains the most popular in Germany and Europe, but has lost a lot of stakes over the past 3 years. For ‘the fault’ of the Volkswagen T-Roc and the newly electric ID.3.

FRANCE

Peugeot 208 has overtaken Renault Clio, but the exploit is of Dacia Sandero (+ 44% vs 2020 and + 11% vs 2019).

UNITED KINGDOM

It is perhaps the market with the greatest changes. For the first time since 2009, the Ford Fiesta is not before. Overrun by the Vauxhall Corsa, on the podium for the first time since its introduction, and by the Tesla Model 3.

ITALY

The podium is essentially unchanged. The Fiat Panda dominates with over 110 thousand units (7.6% of the market). It is followed by the Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon, which together represent 13.8% of the total number of new cars in Italy.

SPAIN

Top 3 in Spain? Seat Arona, the new Hyundai Tucson and, again, the Dacia Sandero. For Arona it is a first time.

RUSSIA

Lada domain, the favorite of consumers in Russia. With Vesta it has sold more than the Granta and is up by 6%. Then the Kia Rio, which confirmed the third position.
