Gentleman driver Fabio Barone is on the hunt for a new record. The president of the Ferrari “Passione Rossa” club, already holder of three “Speed ​​World Records” on the most dangerous roads on the planet, will depart from the Imperial Forums of Rome on Saturday 4 September at 5 pm to reach North Cape, in Norway, in less than 49 hours. This is in fact the time calculated by the Google Maps virtual car to travel the 4,400 km that separate the two locations. Barone will be at the wheel of his Ferrari F8 Tributo and will alternate driving with co-driver Alessandro Tedino, while fans will be able to follow the challenge live from the on-board cameras on the social platforms of “Passione Rossa”, under the supervision of the Federation. Italian timekeepers, or on the maxi screens set up at the Porta di Roma shopping center, among the partners of the event.

“The idea was inspired by a company recounted in a historical Fiat magazine from 1953 in which four daring young people on board a Balilla set off from Rome and reached the North Cape, returning to the capital after 45 days of travel. For the time, this journey was a real undertaking – explains Fabio Barone – Hence the idea of ​​repeating the initiative, declining it with protagonists of the Third Millennium: being able to cover the distance that the virtual car of Google Maps claims to cover in 49 hours in a shorter time frame, obviously maintaining the regular speed limits in each country. We are absolutely ready, we have trained hard with driving sessions of over 1,500 km ”.

It should be noted that, for the occasion, the Galleria di Porta di Roma will be transformed into a small museum where the splendid 1932 Fiat Balilla 508 will be exhibited for the first time after the restoration, which in 1953 was used by the four young boys protagonists. of the expedition to the North Cape and Lapland. On display are two Vespa Piaggio, a symbol of “Made in Italy”, also interpreters of important companies in the North Cape in 2014 for the promotion of the excellence of the Amerino area (all vehicles are part of the Scuderia Traguardo di Amelia museum), while at the at the end of the new challenge, the Ferrari F8 Tributo will be on display. After departing from the heart of the capital, the “Red Baron” will cross Austria, Germany, Sweden and Norway to reach Nordkapp on 6 September between 4 and 6 pm, Italian time.
