Enrico Serafino, the man who helped bring the great prose theater to Alba and who brought the people of Alba to the most prestigious theaters in Italy, died in the night in his home in the historic center of Alba. He was 93 years old and died on the very day when his Teatro Sociale presents the 24th theater season this morning (Saturday 13 November, at 11).
A man of culture and a great animator of the Alba theater, first at the Corino, then in the Ordet hall and finally at the Sociale, it was Serafino who helped set up the billboards of shows in the city. He who, of Asti origins and frequenter of Alfieri “strictly in the gallery that was cheap” together with his friend Ileana Ghione (who would later become a great actress), was the first to arrive from the Turin building in the small and peripheral Alba «The innkeeper» with Valeria Moriconi.
“It was 1965, we had the Corino cinema in via Mazzini at our disposal and not even the mayor believed that someone from Alba would come to the theater. That evening the queue went all the way to the street, “he said. In his life, the acquaintance with many actors and many cultivated friendships. Since the Eighties he had also begun to organize several outings a year, with buses leaving Alba direct to the Regio in Turin, or again to Milan, Venice, Rome, full of theater lovers from Alba for whom Enrico Serafino always chose the show of the moment.
