Announcer Jorge Pabón “Molusco” Reveals Reason for Departure from SBS Radio Station

Announcer Jorge Pabón, known as “Molusco,” has revealed the reason behind his decision not to renew his contract with Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) and continue his participation in the La Mega 106.9FM program.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Pabón explained that SBS had requested 50% of his profits from the video platform where he monetizes additional content beyond his radio show. According to Pabón, the company offered to renew his contract but insisted on a 50% stake in his business. “The owner of this business is asking for 50% of your business, because yes, he offers you a ticket to stay, but if you don’t give me 50% of here you won’t stay,” said Molusco.

Pabón also stated that SBS intends to implement the same format with the majority of talents on its stations, requiring them to relinquish 50% of their social media profits. He emphasized that this approach would not be acceptable to him or other talents.

During negotiations, Pabón offered to monetize other content on his YouTube channel, including his podcast “Adolescentes,” which he co-hosts with his children who are not affiliated with SBS. However, the company insisted on acquiring profits from all of his content, leading to Pabón’s decision to resign.

As a result of his departure, today marked the first day that “Molusco y los Reyes de la Punta” and “La Garata de la Mega” did not air on the station. Pabón’s revelation has sparked discussions about the relationship between radio talent and media companies, particularly regarding the monetization of content across different platforms.
