The reporter recently learned from the relevant departments of Dongying City, Shandong Province that the national tour of the national outstanding musical performance “The Light Chaser” created by the Dongying Snow Lotus Grand Theater has begun, and Jinan Station will be held in Shandong Province on January 7th and 8th, 2022. The Grand Theater staged two consecutive performances, and tickets are now on sale. This is the second performance after the first stop in Beijing.
Shandong is a red hot land with a glorious revolutionary tradition. In order to innovate the learning and education form of party history, inherit the red gene, and continue the red blood, Dongying Snow Lotus Theater has created a large-scale red musical “The Light Chaser” for more than a year. Closely integrate artistic creation with party history learning and education, and use stage performances to present the noble integrity of Communists with their youthful blood to guard their beliefs and to die bravely for the people of the country, making the story of party history more vivid, more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and more conducive to spread.
In “The Light Chaser” in the late 1920s and early 1930s, Li Yunsheng, a Communist with ancestral home from Guangrao, Shandong, rebuilt and strengthened the Nanjing underground party organization of the Communist Party of China, fought against the enemy but was unfortunately betrayed by traitors and sacrificed heroically. Through the artistic stage presentation of musicals, Li Yunsheng vividly interprets Li Yunsheng’s lofty revolutionary spirit of “belief first, responsibility, sacrifice for the people, and determination to prosper the nation”, and enthusiastically praise the revolutionary martyr represented by Li Yunsheng for adhering to the original mission of the Communists Revolutionary sentiment.
After its premiere, “The Light Chaser” received a warm welcome from the market, and has completed many performances, which has caused a huge impact in the industry. In July of this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the list of the repertoires that participated in the second National Excellent Musical Show. It selected 81 Chinese original musicals created since 2018 across the country, and finally selected “The Light Chaser”. 9 outstanding works of the company participated in the performance, which is also the only selected work in Shandong Province.
The play is not only a celebrity drama, but also a youth drama and spy war drama. The plot is ups and downs, touching, and it climaxes when Li Yunsheng and his son meet in prison. After Li Yunsheng was arrested and put in jail, because his true identity could not be determined, the enemy brought his two-year-old son. When the child said heartbreakingly, “I want daddy, I want daddy”, Li Yunsheng No longer able to remain calm, he desperately embraced his two-year-old son Xiao Ning, revealing his identity, but resolutely chose to part with his relatives, never betray the revolutionary ideals, and settle down calmly. In him, there is not only the heroic spirit of going through fire and water for faith, but also the tenderness of being a husband and a father. His feelings are as vast as the sea, and his character shines like stars.
“Light Chaser” has assembled a top-notch creative team in China. National first-class screenwriter Zhang Jiqiang, young screenwriter Wang Juan, young composer Du Yong, young directors Qiu Xiaochen and Liu Hongtao, national first-class stage design Wang Xingang, national first-class lighting designer Meng Bin, costume designer Wang Yukuan, etc., all of which are the National Stage Art Awards and Winner of Shandong Literature and Art Award. The stage beauty, props, costumes, modeling, video, music, lighting, etc., all have the distinctive characteristics of that era, naturally and smoothly, presenting a three-dimensional image like a full-scale sculpture on the stage.
Director Chen Wei is the most influential opera and musical director in China today. He has won six consecutive awards at the China Arts Festival, three times won the Wenhua Award, and won the “Five One Project” award from the Central Propaganda Department.With funding from the National Arts Foundation, he has won the “Wenhua Director Award” and the “Outstanding Director Award” in the China Opera Festival for many times. In the play, Li Yunsheng plays the role of the Golden Bell Award winner and a young singer from Shandong, Yu Haiyang.
The music in the play comes from the famous young composer Du Yong. When the vigorous and exciting melody sounds, the characters and roles of the 1920s and 30s of the last century appear in sequence. The delicate and explosive dance moves and musical effects are perfectly integrated, and the time is instantly transferred. Pull back to that bloody and turbulent era. The melody of the whole work is both stimulating and tender, and the main melody that reverberates from time to time tells of the song and tears of the agitation years. Just as the audience had a dialogue across time and space with the revolutionary martyrs at the scene, the heroes’ vows lingered in their ears, and the heroes’ spiritual power was surging in their hearts.
