Askoll, the first scooter arrives: it has three wheels

by admin

ROME – It is called e.sco and the name already highlights all the Italian vitality at the base of the product. It is the first scooter of Askoll, a company that has been operating in the Vicenza area since 1978, from aquariology to white goods, up to electric mobility, for which it has created an ad hoc section, listed on the stock exchange since July 2018: Askoll Eva. A scooter is what was needed to continue looking forward after the success of electric scooters, already scattered in 5 Italian (as well as European) cities. Today they can be driven in Rome, Milan, Florence, Turin, Genoa (thanks to the Mimoto and Cooltra and Bitmobility sharing services) and it is precisely from those municipalities that Askoll Eva will begin to offer its new three-wheeled scooter. “Micromobility works where the public service is efficient: in places where intermodality is possible, there is a guarantee that the scooter becomes the ideal way to reach the last mile”, comments CEO Gian Franco Nanni.

e.sco: new challenge for Askoll

A new challenge is about to start for Askoll Eva: not that it is a novelty to introduce scooters in historic centers but the intent is to launch on the market a vehicle that has a longer life cycle than the current vehicles in circulation with sharing. . Thanks to the company’s experience gained over the years on the roads but also a completely Italian supply chain which means for companies that buy they never find themselves discovered, from assistance to spare parts. This in addition to improved safety and robustness compared to the standard. The advantage of those who come later and want to do better. “We are ready again for a new challenge. Which starts in Italy and then arrives in Europe. We do it with the best that could be done. Those who have never heard of Askoll are heartened: it means that our systems – in each of their homes – have always been good ”, concludes Nanni.

Driving

How is e.sco driving? The three 10 ” wheels (one front and two rear) are puncture-proof and the scooter is agile and fluid thanks to the shock absorbing systems on both the fork and the rear: this allows for a more comfortable, stable ride even on uneven road surfaces. . The tilting platform also offers good handling: not bad for beginners. When the time comes to brake, the lever activates both the double disc brake at the rear and the regenerative braking at the front, for energy recovery. A 40% distribution on the front and 60% on the rear which leads to the locking of the two wheels behind. In all this, both the front headlight and the rear light are always on, and braking is also signaled behind. With respect to gait, three power delivery modes can be managed via the digital display, plus a fourth for pedestrian areas which limits the speed to 6 km / h and activates the buzzer. The maximum speed, as a regulation, is 25 km / h. Autonomy? 60 km, more than enough for the “very short radius”, that is the classic route for which citizens rent by the minute in the city: 2.5 km.

The engine

The energy-efficient brushless electric motor is positioned in the front wheel and is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of up to 630 Wh. The vehicle also has a theft deterrent system, equipped with a GPS tracker and telemetry in the frame. The battery is closed by a lock that can be opened with a key or APP, removable as for Askoll scooters, inside the platform. One way in which the brand increases the stability of the vehicle which turns out to be light on average (25 kg) but at the same time resistant, able to tolerate up to 110 kg. A proposal ready to emerge immediately in the sharing mobility market and affirm the Made in Italy also in the field of micro-mobility.
