To celebrate the 5th birthday of the flagship LDC Spirit, Aston Microphones is launching a limited edition of 2,000; the Spirit 5th Anniversary Collector’s Edition features a fully engraved housing and, like its classic version, the microphone has a 1-inch gold-plated Cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-of-eight polarity mode switching.
This fully engraved microphone reflects British roots.
The mic’s fully engraved housing design references the brand’s unique British heritage and is the only company still producing mainstream mics in the UK.
The Spirit is Aston’s eagerly awaited mic, the follow-up to their first unique and beloved Origin mic. While the two mics share a lot of features—a 1-inch gold-plated diaphragm, Aston’s impeccable wave spring head, mounts directly upright on the stand, and near-indestructible build—under its hood, the Spirit is an all-new beast with a transformer and offers cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-of-eight polar patterns.
The Spirit has become a fixture in many of the world‘s top recording facilities, attracting many who test it against expensive “industry standard” microphones. Chris Porter, who has produced for David Bowie, George Michael and many other top artists, commented: “I use my Origin and Spirits happily with classic mics like Neumann 49b, U87 or AKG C414s and often use Astons .”
