At Asti Film Festival “Paradise”, the new life of a forgotten film due to a pandemic

Six sections in competition with international works, shorts, documentaries and feature films. A week dedicated to animated short films. Previews, meetings with directors and actors. Space for talents from Asti, themed events to talk about the environment, civil rights, migration, integration and equal opportunities told on the big screen: the Asti Film festival lights the spotlight of the 11th edition, organized by Sciarada productions and Vertigo club.

The key days will be those from 14 to 18 December, but from today, Tuesday 30 November, the screenings of the works in competition will begin: the film will be presented in the Sala Pastrone “Paradise. A new life »by Davide Del Degan, story of a man under protection in the same places as those who denounced (hours 15.30 and 21.15). A film from last year, penalized by the pandemic.

“This year we have 120 titles in competition, at least 80 accompanied by directors and performers – he explains Riccardo Costa, president of Asti Film Festival – Not only quality films, but also meetings and special events dedicated to the masters of Italian cinema ».

Among the appointments, exclusively for the festival, on Saturday 18th the Alfieri will be presented “Notes from a salesman of women” by Fabio Resinaro, based on the novel by Giorgio Faletti. On the same evening, the short will be screened “The hidden treasure” by Gianni Miroglio, text by Laura Calosso. There will also be the presentation of the book «Vite al macello» by Giovanni Anzaldo, the screening of the short film «The treasure of Monticchio» by Giuseppe Varlotta and his son Nicolò Amos. Furthermore, the days from 14 to 16 December will be punctuated by themed projections in collaboration with different realities of the territory such as Asti Pride e Fridays For Future.

Among the guests the actors Fabrizio Rizzolo and Giovanni Esposito, director Nahd Bashir and many others. Guest of the final evening will be Richard Collect: interpreter of films such as «Inglourious Basterds» and of the TV series «The strain», will receive the City of Asti Award. On the same evening, the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to the actress Octavia Piccolo, while Dino Abbrescia he will receive the “Joy and happiness” award, named after the Bugnano twins, “friends of the culture and art of Asti”, who recently passed away. In addition to the critical jury, there will be three others: audience in the hall, students and inmates of the Quarto prison.
