Bird Bike, the offensive in 250 cities around the world

by admin

ROME – A new fleet of electric bicycles is attacking 250 cities around the world. The project bears the signature of “Bird”, one of the major operators in the micro-mobility sector, which through its bike-sharing platform will introduce an army of Bird Bikes integrated into the existing transport networks and services. Equipped with an electric motor capable of climbing hills with a gradient of 20%, the Bird Bikes weigh 35 kg and have a front basket, large tires and IoT technology for the “semi-automatic driving” function, geospeed technology and multi-modality geolocation in order to guarantee the uniformity of the service in cities and towns of different sizes.

The Bird Bikes will be available later this year in North America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland and France. To rent a bicycle, simply scan the QR-Codes present on each vehicle through the Bird app and through the “scan & ride” function. Once this is done, all that remains is to pedal.

“Electric scooters for hire have catapulted sharing mobility to the center of the sustainable transportation scene and guaranteed more than 150 million zero-emissions trips globally,” explains Travis VanderZanden, Bird Founder and CEO. “We are launching our rental Bird Bikes and the new Smart Bike-Sharing platform to respond to the growing demand for sustainable mobility in cities. With this new service we aim to reach a total of 5 billion trips per year ”. (fp)
