EconLab has also carried out a survey for the Borgomanero business district to find out the priorities of public and private subjects. 92 companies and 15 stakeholders responded. 51.1% of companies declare that they suffered a drop in turnover in 2020, on average by -34%. 2021 was a year of adjustment, where most experienced stability (54.3%) or increase (34.8%).

Currently, the quality of services and infrastructures in the District territory is considered “insufficient” by the actors involved, especially as regards tourist information and recreational activities. Overall, typical quality products (57%), environmental resources and landscape (54.2%) and art, culture, traditions and events (38.3%) are considered the main tourist attractions. The opinion of the interviewees on the type of tourism in which to concentrate investments is almost unanimous, food and wine and typical artisan products (82.2%), followed by environmental and cultural (72.1%) and sports / excursionists (45.8 %). The main areas on which to work for a greater enhancement of the District are considered to be the visibility and image of the territory (57%), recreational initiatives and events (55.1%) and the coordinated communication of opportunities (47.7%). The collective promotion of local products is also very important for companies (40.2%), where they occupy the fourth position in the ranking in order of priority (for institutions the eighth, with a 13.3% consensus).

Improve skills
To achieve these objectives, the interviewees felt the need to improve skills, mainly in the promotion of the tourism product, market and consumer analysis, awareness of identity, hoping that the District favors an increase in the use of digital tools by of institutions, businesses and consumers. The objectives of the Borgomanero District identified are three: urban qualification interventions, urban design and public spaces, integrated communication of the District, interconnected with tourism, culture and art, development of new services and improvement of existing ones.
