The Chinese version of the Broadway musical “Uncle Long Legs” will be staged at the Hangzhou Theater on September 19, and tickets are currently open. The musical “Uncle Long Legs” is adapted from the novel of the same name by American female writer Jane Webster. It tells a beautiful love story and at the same time, it is also a story of female growth.
Qiao Ruosa is the oldest child in the orphanage and has always longed for the world outside the orphanage. Suddenly one day, a mysterious man was willing to sponsor her to go to university, but all the information of this man was strictly confidential. Their only connection was to write a letter, in which she called him “Uncle Long Legs”. In college, Qiao Ruosa met her roommate Julia’s “young” uncle Jervis, and the two got closer. The original version of the play was acclaimed after it was staged on Broadway, and won many drama awards such as the 2016 Drama Desk Award. “The Huffington Post” once commented: “In the next ten years, “Uncle Long Legs” will become the most cherished musical by women.”
In 2018, the Chinese version of this musical met with Chinese audiences for the first time, creating a domestic “love and growth” musical trend, creating a box office miracle for small and medium theater musicals.
