“Only” 10 million euros to breathe the atmosphere imbued with that refined irony that only a great man like Totò had as a dowry. He, a passionate lover of Neapolitanism and of all the places of Campania of “great beauty”, could not fail to have his favorite corner in Capri, the Italian island with the most famous allure in the world.
Here he stayed in “a luxury villa with park and outbuilding” which has now been put up for sale at the indicated amount, hundreds of euros more or less, by Lionard Luxury Real Estate which offers a rich photo gallery of the complex complete with detailed information. All to entice the highest bidder to come forward and win a summer residence used by Prince de Curtis and other characters who symbolize a golden age for theater and cinema such as the De Filippo brothers or Vittorio De Sica.
1940s residence
The residence was built in the 1940s on commission from the film director Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia with whom the great actor made six films (including the famous “Totò le Mokò”, “Totò looks for a wife” and “47 Morto che Parla”). Bragaglia wanted two adjacent villas on a total area of 1200 square meters. The manor house, 800 square meters and on four levels, has a typical Capri architecture. In the price, of all respect and not really for all budgets, the literally breathtaking views of Ischia, Naples and Vesuvius are included. Even the outside has its own landscape to be enjoyed at 360 degrees: a botanical park with over 150 plant species, more than 4000 square meters with swimming pool and whirlpool, tennis court, bowling green and five-a-side football.
Buckets of water
Inside there is still the favorite room of the prince of the great cinema. With the wrought iron bed, the corner cupboard, the round table with the newspaper clippings of the time kept under the glass. Someone says that here the artist often opened the window and threw buckets of water at the boys who disturbed him with their noises.
It is not the first time that the villa is put up for sale. It had already gone on the market in 2018. Now it is waiting for the right buyer.
