Cost of fuel, 72% of Italians have reduced the use of their car

by admin

In recent months, Italian motorists have had to deal with expensive fuel, so much so that, as emerged from the survey commissioned by Facile.it and MiaCar.it to the mUp Research and Norstat institutes, 72% of respondents declared that they had tried to reduce car journeys precisely because of the increase in prices. On the other hand, the expense that motorists have to face is important: to refuel at the pump, on average, Italians pay 1,296 euros a year; Fortunately, in recent weeks the costs of diesel and petrol have, albeit slightly, started to decrease, but the new year could lead to further increases and this considerably worries the Italian motorist.

Analyzing the data on a territorial basis it emerges that the highest bill is the one faced by motorists residing in Central Italy (1,356 euros), while the lighter one, on the other hand, is in the North East (1,152 euros). Looking at the survey results, other data clearly linked to the use of the car emerge; men, who travel an average of 12,441 kilometers a year compared to 10,973 km for the female sample, budget around 1,404 euros a year, that is 18% more than women (1,188 euros).

From the personal point of view, however, it is motorists aged between 35 and 44 who spend the most (1,428 euros a year); those over 65 who spend less (1,056 euros).

What effect is the decision to use the car less having due to fuel costs? According to the survey, among the 25 million Italians who made this decision, 43.1% said they had eliminated unnecessary travel, 28.4% chose to move on foot instead of on four wheels and 13 , 5% simply opted for public transport.

While 2021 was a bad year in terms of fuel costs, the good news is that the other item of expenditure that weighs on motorists’ budgets, insurance, has remained extremely low throughout the year. .

According to the Easy.it RC car observatory, based on a sample of over 9 million estimates, in November 2021, on average, 436.03 euros were needed to insure a vehicle, i.e. 8.17% less. compared to the same month last year.
