Put order, delete fake news, offer data and scientific studies on Sars-CoV-2 and vaccines. This is the aim of tonight’s dialogue in Chatillon between the scientist Alberto Mantovani, president of the Humanitas Foundation for research, and Pierluigi Berti, director of the clinical pathology department of the Parini hospital in Aosta. The appointment is for 8.45 pm at the auditorium of the Chatillon school complex, at number 5 in via Plantin.
Title of the meeting, which will have an introduction by Dr. Ubaldo Loiero, “Illness, treatment, prevention – Understanding to act according to our psychophysical health“. In a note, the Chatillon Culture Group, which organized the evening as part of the Care & Resilience review, writes the motivation: “To help reflect on the overall and emergency problems induced today by the pandemic and to help address them at the root and with foresight” .
Mantovani, who for months has emphasized the importance of doctors and scientists meeting people, precisely to explain, especially to answer questions about the virus and vaccines, will talk about the need for the booster (the third dose) that “strengthens our defenses”. There will also be space to talk about vaccination to children, always with data. Mantovani has always maintained that even for children and adolescents the benefits outweigh the risks of side effects such as pericarditis and myocarditis, which can be treated with anti-inflammatories.
Science still does not know how to answer why children get sick less, but with the latest variants of the virus, even severe cases have increased. The answers, however, are there on the fears that the vaccine can alter our DNA and on the possibility that it can make it sterile. In several meetings, Mantovani himself explained how this is a baseless hypothesis.
