“The Windless Zone” was created by Dalian local critic and screenwriter Yang Jinfeng, and directed by the famous drama director Wang Xiaoying. Set in Dalian during the colonial period, the play tells the life experience of Hua Yuner, Xia Zijin, Chang Haiyang and other communists and progressive youths seeking truth, fighting and sacrifice during the period from the Russo-Japanese War in 1905 to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. An emotional journey intertwined with love and hatred, with no regrets. “It’s nice to stand!” The character Hua Siye in the play stood up from his wheelchair tremblingly, and shouted out with all his strength, like a precise arrow, which slammed the audience’s heart fiercely. It is also the “eye” of the entire drama. It shouted out the humiliation of colonial rule, the great spirit of resistance of the Chinese people, the immortal soul and unyielding backbone of the Chinese nation, and the audience continued to applaud.

Professor Wang Wenshu, deputy dean of the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University, said: “The Windless Zone integrates party history learning and education with artistic creation. It has clear political themes and at the same time has aesthetic artistic expression. Whether it is creative techniques or The lighting, props, scene conversion, etc., all express a sense of modernity, breaking my traditional cognition of dialogue drama art, and giving people a refreshing feeling. I am also from Dalian, and I am able to produce such a hundred years to the party for my hometown. I am proud of the excellent masterpieces of birthday gifts. After I return, I will put this’party class’ in the teaching content of ideological and political courses and tell the students.”

Different from traditional heroic dramas, the plot features of “Windless Zone” with suspense and story reversal impressed audiences in Beijing, especially among young audiences. It wasn’t until the end of the drama that Hua Yuner knew that the superior “March” she had never met was her former lover Xia Zijin. At this time, Xia Zijin had revealed his identity and went to the execution ground to brave justice. This kind of plot reversal makes the whole drama cast a “spy war” color, and hooks the hearts of the audience.

A college student audience told reporters that the screenwriter is like an experienced magician who is very “slick”. He diverts the audience’s attention and regards the key question of “Who is’March'” as a passing moment. The thread is buried in the development of the plot, and when the truth is revealed, it becomes more tragic and vigorous. This kind of non-teaching, highly watchable drama is especially suitable for the viewing needs of young people.

Give the play endless romanticism.

The audience Ms. Jin said: “The two poems appeared one after another at the end, bringing the story to a tragic sublime, which is a headache and moist before my eyes. This work has the warmth of human nature, and it has a personality that gives me a kind of poetry. The impact.”

Director Wang Xiaoying said: “This is the third time I have cooperated with the Dalian Repertory Theatre. It combines the fate of characters, emotional journeys with historical events, and Emphasizing poetry is the characteristic of “Windless Zone” as a red theme work. For this Beijing performance, we made some detailed adjustments, such as the promotion of the relationship between the characters, in order to pursue a better artistic effect, based on the audience’s response. Look, it was successful.”
