Davide Quadrio is the new director of the Mao Museo d’Arte Orientale in Turin. He was appointed by the board of directors of the Torino Musei Foundation which selected him at the end of the call.

“I am convinced that this choice will guarantee the museum a development that will strengthen its image at an international level” underlines Maurizio Cibrario, president of the Torino Musei Foundation. «Asia is an immense cultural continent, rich in traditions, but also in innovative and important cultural and social insights. Being the director of the Mao is a great opportunity for me to bring my thirty years of experience in Asia to Turin. I thank the Torino Musei Foundation for the trust placed in me to accompany the Mao in an even more international museum dimension », comments Quadrio.

Quadrio is a cultural producer, curator and educator who lives and works between Asia and Italy. For a decade he founded and directed the BizArt Center, the first independent non-profit art laboratory in Shanghai, created to promote the local contemporary art scene. In 2007 he created Arthub, a curatorial platform dedicated to the production and promotion of art in Asia and around the world. The BizArt and Arthub archives, active in China since the 2000s, were presented as one of the main cultural realities and artistic resources for the exhibition “Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World“, hosted by the Guggenheim in New York and Bilbao . From 2013 to 2016 he curated the contemporary art section of the Aurora Museum in Shanghai, one of the most spectacular collections of ancient Chinese art in the world. Since 2020 he is professor of excellence at the Iuav in Venice.
