Micha van Hoecke was 77 years old, and had been ill for some time, passed away on the evening of August 6. Belgian father and Russian mother had traveled a first part of his career between Roland Petit’s France and Maurice Béjart’s Belgium. Here he met his first wife Maguy Marin and directed the Mudra school at the behest of Béjart. He then landed in Italy in the 80s and had highlighted how
choreographer and director. An important, but secluded protagonist of the dance scene in our home. With his company he had made dance theater titles that remain in the history of recent decades such as “Monsieur monsieur”.
He had been alongside Carla Fracci as a non-dancing presence in Béjart’s “Heure exquise” staged in Torinodanza years ago and recently reprized by Alessandra Ferri in a version that debuted in Ravenna and will be in Turin for the same at the festival.
Unfortunately he had not been able to participate in the recovery because he was already seriously ill.
