ROMA – The new circular of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is in recent days which regulates the new deadlines and the new extensions for driving licenses and driving exams in view of the Covid emergency.
Per driving exams the following extensions are in force:
Theory exam: those who submitted the application for obtaining a driving license in 2020 can take the theory test by 31 December 2021, while those who submitted it from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021 (current date of termination of the state of health emergency) can take the test within 1 year (and not within six months) from the date of submission and acceptance of the application
Pink sheets: documents expiring between January 31, 2020 and December 31, 2021 are extended until March 31, 2022 (ninetieth day after December 31, 2021, current date of termination of the state of health emergency) provided that they have not already been renewed in the validity.
As regards the licenses expired and to be renewed, these are the new deadlines:
To circulate in Italy, Italian driving licenses expiring between January 31, 2020 and May 31, 2021 are valid until March 31, 2022.
Those with a deadline between June 1, 2021 and June 30, 2021 are valid for up to 10 months after the normal deadline.
Finally, those that expire between 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021 are valid until 31 March 2022.
