To support this group of new riders, especially in the field of intermodality, good news arrives from Turin. In fact, in the city of the Mole, the first cycling station will open in a few days, at the historic Porta Nuova station.
The mayor Chiara Appendino announced the imminent opening: “It is a project started in 2016 and will open in May. Turin is finally advancing in terms of “soft mobility” and provides the many cyclists we have, also in intermodal operation, with a space to keep their bicycles safe ”.
Available to users there will be 120 places to keep bicycles safe from theft and bad weather, a useful service that will cost 80 cents for the whole day and which also provides for the presence of 14 stations equipped for recharging electric bikes.
“This is a project with resources from the Collegato Ambientale and Grandi Stazioni that helped us in this very important path for the city – added the councilor for Mobility, Maria Lapietra – It is not just a cycling station, but a space recovered in one of the most historic and ancient places in Porta Nuova and here it will be possible to put bicycles both on the ground and on the elevated, there will be stations for electric bicycles, a space for the cycle workshop “. In short, an innovative project that aims to lead the way in the construction of new structures of the same type in other Italian cities in support of increasingly green mobility.
